19 Juillet - L’Erythréen Zersenay Tadesse a suscité l’enthousiasme du stade en remportant la médaille d’or du 10 000m des Jeux Africains. Il a mené de bout en bout une course à un rythme effréné en laissant loin derrière tous ses adversaires.
Après avoir franchi la ligne d’arrivée, il est devenu un héros pour tout son pays en devenant le premier athlète de l’Erythréen à remporter une médaille dans l'histoire des Jeux Africains.
Cette victoire prouve que les spécialistes kenyans et ethiopiens ont désormais un nouvelle adversaire de taille. L’Erythrée pourrait donc être leur nouveau challenger dans quelques semaines à Osaka à l’occasion des prochains championnats du monde d’athlétisme
19 July - Zersenay Tadesse from Eritrea, on Thursday grasped the gold in the men's 10,000m at the ninth All Africa Games. He controlled the race with his own tempo and maintained a leading role during the whole race.
After crossing the finish line first, he once again became a national hero, becoming the first athlete from Eritrea in the 42-year history of the Games to win a medal in the event.
However, it also proves to some extent that Eritreans are exerting threats against African top-class athletes from Kenya or Ethiopia. Eritrea could pose the biggest threat to Kenyan runners at the next World Championships in Athletics at Osaka
